Second in command under Sheriff Steve Cronic, Colonel Jeff Strickland oversees the three major divisions of the Sheriff's Office: Police Services, Sheriff Services, and Administrative Services Divisions. This includes Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Court Services, and the Hall County Jail.

Colonel Strickland’s priority is to provide quality service and protection to the citizens of Hall County in a professional and cost-effective manner.

Colonel Strickland is a 26-year veteran officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, beginning in 1983 as a detention officer. He is a 1983 graduate of Gainesville High School, a 1984 graduate of the Northeast Georgia Police Academy, and he has logged more than 2,000 hours of advanced law enforcement training.

Colonel Strickland has been recognized and honored a number of times during his career to include Officer of the Year in 1990 and 2000. The Gainesville Elks Lodge selected him as the recipient of the 1990 and 2000 Public Safety Officer Finalist of the Year. The Hall County Board of Commissioners honored him with a Proclamation for Outstanding Service in 2001.

Colonel Strickland received the 1999 Respect for Law Award from the Gainesville Optimist Club. He also received the Roy C. Moore Memorial Award for his service in 1990, and the Hall County Sheriff's Office awarded him with a Special Commendation for Outstanding Support and Dedication to the Sheriff's Office in 2002.

Colonel Strickland is a member of both the Georgia and the National Sheriff's Associations. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Fraternal Order of Police.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Colonel Strickland and his wife, Linda, reside in South Hall and attend Lakewood Baptist Church.
