Sheriff’s Office participates in Operation A.L.E.R.T.

 

 

On Thursday October 14th, 2004 at 6:00 PM deputies with the Hall County Sheriff's Office along with the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety conducted a safety checkpoint on I-985 at the northbound rest area. The purpose of the operation was to assist the Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety in inspecting and removing unsafe commercial vehicles from Georgia highways or cause them to be repaired to regain roadworthiness. The checkpoint was called A multiple Law enforcement Effort to Reduce Traffic related fatalities (A.L.E.R.T.).

 

            The objective of the operation was aimed to deter fatal or serious injury crashes involving commercial vehicles by performing safety inspections.

Hall County S.O.  M.A.N.S & Gang Task Force Units

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Squad

     

The operation concluded at approximately midnight with over 450 commercial vehicles checked with the following results.

·        15 Safety Inspections

·        41 Safety Violations Issued

·        15 Out of Service Violations

·        12 Searches

·        14 Traffic Citations Issued

·        33 Warnings

·        5 Custodial Charges / Arrests (listed below)
