Crime Scene Unit
Overview
Crime Scene Investigation plays a vital role in modern
law enforcement. The processing and documentation of crime scenes
is critical in the prosecution of all criminal cases. The
modernization of evidence handling procedures and maintaining a
professional and efficient Crime Scene Unit is imperative for successful
prosecution of any criminal case.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has one fulltime Crime
Scene Investigator assigned to Criminal Investigations and eight Crime
Scene Technicians assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. The
Crimes Scene Investigator is a Georgia Certified Identification
Technician investigating major case crime scenes with the Sheriff’s
Office. The Crime Scene Technicians investigate immediate cases reported
to patrol.
An immense amount of time is required by a Crime Scene
Investigator to properly process a major case crime scene, analyze
evidence collected and testify in subsequent judicial proceedings.
The Crime Scene Investigator is also responsible for the
downloading and preservation of all digital photography images.
Digital photography is the Sheriff’s Office primary media for
photographic documentation of cases.
