The Crimes Against
Persons Unit investigates crimes such as aggravated child
molestation, child molestation, cruelty to children, child death, rape,
statutory rape, runaway/missing juveniles, all physical assaults
including domestic violence, threats, phone harassment, missing persons,
stalking, rapes, murders, death investigations and child
exploitation/computer related crimes. The majority of cases investigated
by the Persons Unit are felonies. Many of these crimes are some of
the most sensitive cases investigated by law enforcement.
The cases investigated by the Crimes Against Person’s Unit are extremely
time consuming to investigate and to prosecute. In most sex crime,
child cruelty, death investigation, assaults, and murder cases, numerous
interviews and crime scene searches must be conducted. Search warrants,
court orders, neighborhood canvass, and other investigative processes
may be necessary depending on each individual case.
