Military Type Smoke Canisters Found in East Hall

Deputies responding to a call from a landowner on Old Cornelia Hwy just north of GA Hwy 52 found a small crate containing what appears to be Military Smoke Canisters.

The canisters, each about the size of an aluminum soda can, were found abandoned near the properties fence line, approximately 40 feet from the road.

Military Officials at Fort McPherson were notified and sent investigators to the scene to retrieve the items and assist in the investigation.

The origin or the intended use of the canisters is not known at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigation Division.
