The Hall County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery at the Little Giant Food Store on Atlanta Highway just south of Gainesville.

 

At approximately 10:20 P.M. the owner of the Little Giant Food Store, 62 year old, Allen McClure, was exiting and closing the store when someone wearing all black and a hood approached him. Upon approach the perpetrator pointed some type small handgun and fired one round toward McClure.

 

McClure, who was also armed, produced his pistol and returned fire at the perpetrator. At this point the perpetrator fled on foot down Chicopee Street where he was picked up by an awaiting vehicle. 

 

No one was injured in the incident and nothing was taken.

 

The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
