         1st  Lieutenant Mark Bandy is the Assistant Division commander of the Hall County Jail, a division of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

           The Hall County Detention Center main facility is made up of three phases.  Phase I, constructed in 1982, is utilized for housing maximum-security inmates.  With the additions of phase II and III in 1992 and 1993, the Detention Center achieved a total capacity of 595 maximum, medium, and minimum security inmates.  Since it's inception, the Detention Center has strived to use modern and progressive administrative practices to ensure a legal and fiscally sound operation.  Employing a staff of 149, the Detention Center is the largest of four separate Divisions within the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The Hall County Detention Center Division

           The Detention Center, being the only facility located in Hall County, Georgia, serves the needs of all Law Enforcement agencies and individuals including inmates, staff, judicial, authorities, attorneys, community service providers, state and federal agencies, clergy personnel and visitors.  

           The Detention Center offers multiple services for it's diverse inmate population.  These services include medical care, religious services, educational programs, parenting classes, anger management classes, and access to a very adequate law library.

Summary

           All units within the Hall County Detention Center Division employ both sworn and non-sworn employees.  The Detention Center provides both a standard forty (40) hour work week and twelve (12) hour shift schedules that alternate between a three-day and four-day work schedules.

           All employees are provided uniforms.  Training is continuous with shift in-service updates, regional training in Athens, Georgia, and the P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) facility located in Forsyth, Georgia.  The Hall County, Georgia benefit package is surpassed by none with the most recent retirement incentives.  All full-time employees are provided with civil service protection, and salary advancements that are achieved through annual performance reports.  Promotional adjustments and county commission living increase incentives are also offered.
