Sheriff’s Office Dive Team To Begin Search For Missing Boater
The Hall County Sheriff's Office, Dive Team, plans to begin searching Lake Lanier today following a boating accident this weekend that has left the boat owner missing.
DNR officers located a damage boat on Lake Lanier north of Browns Bridge near the Hall/Forsyth County line over the weekend. The boat was found in gear and the owner’s wallet was located inside the boat.
Investigative efforts have failed to turn up the boat’s owner and family and friends have not heard from the owner since the weekend.
Due to the proximity to the Hall/Forsyth County Line, both the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Dive Teams will work together and begin a joint search at approximately 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 18, 2004. They plan to call upon specially trained cadaver sniffing dogs from the Dekalb County Fire Services to assist them in the search.
The boat owners name is not being release at this time pending further investigation.
The incident remains under investigation jointly by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
