At present there are eight documented gangs active in the Hall County
area. This number is reflective of a 70% reduction of gangs and gang members since
1997. Most of these gangs are termed non-traditional, having little or not ties to
larger gangs on the state and National level.
The non-traditional gangs finance themselves
through crimes such as theft, burglary, drug distribution, firearm trafficking,
intimidation, and extortion. Crimes such as these are committed by gang members to
elevate their status within the gang as well as to elevate the status of the gang itself.
The Gang Task Force operates with a contingent of
Federal Law Enforcement Officers representing the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
Immigration & Naturalization Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and
Firearms. Due to our cooperation and joint effort with these Federal Agencies many
of the Gang Task Force cases are presented in Federal Court.
The GTF (Gang Task Force) does not focus solely on
Hispanic gangs. However, they are a major factor. The GTF unit investigates
crimes committed by Asian gangs, white gangs, and those committed by 'hate groups'.
Please feel free to contact the Gang Task Force
