Sheriff's Office

Motor Unit

The Hall County Sheriff's Office purchased 2 Kawasaki KZ-1000 Police motorcycles in the early 1980's. They have since been "retired" from duty after many years of use. The Sheriff's Office began using Harley-Davidson Road King police model motorcycles in 1997 leasing 1 motorcycle. Currently, the Hall County Sheriff's Office utilizes 6 2008 model Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide motorcycles and 1 Road King motorcycle in the Traffic Enforcement / Motor Unit. These motorcycles have proved to be an invaluable tool to the Sheriff's Office. These officers, who are assigned to the  Special Operations Unit, utilize the motors in a number of different ways. Collision reduction and injury prevention through traffic enforcement  is the first priority use of the motors. The motors are also utilized in other ways for crowd control, parade functions and escorts.

Each officer assigned to the Motor Unit is trained through the  40-hour Basic Motor Officer school along with regular monthly motor officer training.
