Captain Woodrow Tripp

Commander, Criminal Investigations

              Captain Tripp is an Army Airborne Veteran and retired City of Atlanta Police Commander. During his tenure with the A.P.D. he has received various awards and commendations, including the Chiefs Blue Star Award (Heroism/Gunshot wound), the Meritorious Service Medal (Lifesaving) and the 1987 Officer of the Year Award.

 

             His assignments have included being the first detective ever assigned to the FBI and has commanded the Gang Task Force, “Red Dog” Tactical Narcotics Unit and the Public Housing Police Section. In addition to these assignments, Captain Tripp was the Intelligence Commander during the 1996 Olympic Games and the Deputy Director and Operational Commander of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) federal drug task force.

 

            He is a graduate of the elite FBI “Hostage Negotiation” School, National Interagency Counter drug Institute (NICI) and is a certified Polygraph Examiner and hostage negotiator. Captain Tripp holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice.
