The Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS) was formed in 1989. The MANS operates under the 1998 Edward Byrne Memorial Drug Control System Improvement Formula Grant Program administered by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). The Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint venture of the Hall County Sheriff's Office, who is the applicant and implementing agency for this Grant. The other participating agencies are the City of Gainesville Police Department and the City of Oakwood Police Department. The office is comprised of investigators from the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Gainesville Police Department and is supported by a clerical staff consisting of an Administrative Secretary and Records Clerk. The MANS Office is supervised by a designee appointed by the MANS Control Board. The Hall County MANS is the only local drug enforcement unit operating within Hall County. Additionally, the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, Patrol Division, S.T.E.P. Unit, R.E.D.D.O.G Unit, Gang Task Force, and Gainesville Police Department's Community Police, Criminal Investigations, and Patrol work in Hall County on the ever increasing drug problem. The MANS also provides criminal intelligence information, manpower, equipment and other resources to its member agencies and other local government offices and departments involving joint investigations. |
