The Hall County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team arrested a Gainesville man after a brief standoff at the Suburban Lodge on Jessie Jewell Parkway.
Deputies attempting to serve a warrant on Stephen Matthew Buchanan, age 33, of Gainesville early Saturday morning confronted the suspected who used his wife as a shield and barricaded himself in a room at the Suburban Lodge to avoid arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team negotiators attempted to talk the suspect into surrendering without success for several hours.
The incident was resolved when the SWAT Team made entry into the room and arrested the suspect.
The Suspect was charged with False Imprisonment under the Family Violence Act, 2nd Degree Cruelty to Children and Obstruction.
No one was injured during the incident.
The Incident is still under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
